MAKE A WISH!

The ZippyList™ module let's your customers create a wish list of items for future purchase. It's a great add-on for the ZippyCart script! click here for all the info.

Using FreeRide™

Here's a handy feature that's unique to ZippyCart. If you sell light weight items, there will be many times when the customer's order weight is above one step but well below the next step in the rates. When this occurs, your customer can order additional products and they will effectively 'ride free' because of breaks in the carrier weight charts.

FreeRide works by tracking the difference in the actual order weight and the weight which the carrier will charge. Example: Your customer orders a widget which weighs 33 ounces ready to ship.

All carriers, USPS, UPS or Fedex will charge for this shipment at the three pound rate simply because it weighs one ounce more than two pounds!

The extra 15 ounces left in limbo present a classic win-win situation for you and your customer. Providing it weighs 15 ounces or less, your customer can order another item and get free shipping plus you can sell another item without additional effort or cost! FreeRide™ silently watches for these opportunities and let's your customer know about it!

Try it out using the order buttons below. Start with an empty cart and add the items one at a time to see how FreeRide™ works!

Here's a Sample product that weighs two pounds, one ounce for $10.00
This item only weighs 8 ounces but sells for $29.95
Here is an 6 ounce item which sells for $20.00
Your customer gets free shipping on two items, you get $60 in sales instead of $10 and the Post Office gets what they were going to charge anyway!

Configuring and using FreeRide.

FreeRide will be more useful to a seller of spices than coffee. If you have only a few items which weigh less than 15 ounces, your customers may become frustrated trying to find qualifying products.

One possibility. Group small impulse items on the same page and use the built-in link. Offer a special price when purchased with items from the normal catalog.

FreeRide is configured using these two variables:

  • $allow_FreeRide Set this value to 0 (zero) to disable the feature altogether. Otherwise, the setting indicates the number of ounces which must be avialable to trigger the notice. Example. Your lightest item weighs 8 ounces. Set $allow_FreeRide=8 and the alert will only appear when at least 8 ounces can be added to the order.

  • $freeRideLink If set, this link will appear in the FreeRide alert inviting your customer to find suitable items.
  • ZippyCart calculates shipping by your customer's zip code. Zippy adds up the combined weight of each item in the order, then looks up the rate based on standard zones. This is the same method used by the USPS and other web sites to calculate mailing costs.

Because you can edit the rates used in this calculation, you will be able to create accurate calculations using any carrier. Default rates are provided for both domestic and international shipments, plus, you can easily add custom rates for any destination

If you already have the Paypal cart on your pages, conversion is easy! ZippyCart uses existing Paypal add-to-cart buttons unchanged other than one additional field for item weight.

FreeRide™ is a special feature found only in our ZippyCart product. This feature lets your customer know when the total order weight is such that adding an additional item will not increase the shipping charge. Read more..
